150096150017175Some films know instinctively which buttons to press to make you feel good about yourself and life in general. Some days you absolutely need that. Here’s thefilm.blog’s 10 ultimate feel good cinema scenes…

1. The Full Monty – Hot Stuff

Of course, it could have been the full monty scene itself in this spot, but there’s something delightful about this iconic scene from the Peter Cattaneo classic comedy.

2. Singing in the Rain – Singing in the Rain

It’s not milk and it’s not all one take but this number’s more rousing than rain-based scenes have any right to be.

3. Forrest Gump – Run Forrest Run!

…and then the braces break…and he starts running…and he never stops running…sob

4. Peter Pan – I do believe in fairies!

You better believe, a pure moment of cinematic magic.

5. The Muppets – Life’s a Happy Song

This is my morning routine every day.

6. Love Actually – Jump

Because if you were Prime Minister you just would.

7. Braveheart – Freedom

Braveheart is the most entertaining historical tosh in the history of cinema and who doesn’t want to be Scottish at the end of Gibson’s ‘freedom’ speech?

8. Rocky – Training in Philadelphia

This scene helped Rocky win, it’ll help you get through any bad day too!

9. Jurassic Park – Welcome to Jurassic Park

Jurassic Park is a breathtaking sequence of feel-good moments but the dinosaur reveal wins out. It’s spectacular. They nailed it.

10. It’s a Wonderful Life – The Ending

When the tears start falling they’ll be with you till the end of the film. The conclusion to Frank Capra’s It’s a Wonderful Life is unquestionably cinema’s most uplifting feel-good scene.

  1. Such an amazing post. That speech in Braveheart is really powerful indeed, but then Gibson can be super charismatic when he wants too. I also agree on the running Forrest, a pretty touching sequence. I would probably add to this list the ending in Babe (1995), what a triumph!

  2. What no Strictly Ballroom (dance on the roof in front of the Coke sign), Pricilla Queen of the Dessert (the giant stiletto on the van in the dessert with streams of pink chiffon blowing in the wind as they drive along) or Mureal’s Wedding (Waterloo karaoke)?

  3. This is such a fantastic post, I was nodding and smiling in agreement with each of the choices. That line scene in The Fully Monty is just outstanding, especially given the situation they are all in.
