Prepare to enter a whole not-so-new world with Disney’s first look trailer for next year’s Aladdin live action remake.
Following the likes of Beauty and the Beast and The Jungle Book, Aladdin is just the latest Disney animated classic to get a re-make treatment. Take a look at the full line up here.
Due in the cinemas next Spring, the film comes from Guy Ritchie and sees Mena Massoud play the titular street rat, with Naomi Scott as Princess Jasmine and Marwan Kenzari as the evil Jafar.
Will Smith, meanwhile, is set to emulate the late, great Robin Williams in the frenetic role of the genie who grants Aladdin three wishes when he rubs a magic lamp.
There’s no sign of Smith in the new trailer, which should stir more than a little nostalgic warmth for fans of the original, but plenty of magic.
Aladdin‘s trailer arrives a day after Disney released a teaser poster for the film, leaving fans with just one more wish.
Watch the trailer here:
Is it just us or does that play out a lot like Disney’s teaser for Beauty and the Beast last year?
Aladdin arrives in cinemas on 24 May 2019 but boy do we wish it were sooner.
