FIRST LOOK: Have you seen Disney’s new Lion King trailer yet?

Can you feel the nostalgia tonight? It’s in the new trailer for Jon Favreau’s remake of Disney animated classic The Lion King, which is due in cinemas next Summer.

Released in 1994, Disney’s original Lion King roars among the studio’s most successful films. Certainly, with the aid of its long-running stage musical, the film is the highest-grossing arts box office title of all time.

Along with Dumbo and Aladdin, The Lion King is also one of the three Disney animations getting a ‘live-action’ remake in 2019. Not that you could call this entirely CGI affair ‘live’ in any conventional meaning of the word.

Based on the new teaser trailer however, which made its debut last night, there will be plenty of action – even if we’ve seen much of it before.

You can watch the trailer here…

For those unaware, The Lion King tells the story of a lion cub called Simba, whose life spirals out of control when the father he idolises – Mufasa – meets a tragic fate. Fleeing the Savannah he is destined to rule over, Simba grows up under the guidance of a meerkat and a warthog but must one day return.

The film has been directed by Jon Favreau, who’s no stranger to remaking Disney classics, having produced 2016’s magnificent, Oscar-winning Jungle Book. It boasts too an incredible, all-star cast, including – but not limited to – Beyoncé, Donald Glover, Seth Rogan and original-film star James Earl Jones.
