Kermit the Frog has a new voice…

Matt Vogel has debuted his take on Jim Henson’s original Muppet star.

Created and voiced by Henson himself from 1955 onwards, Kermit the Frog had been performed by Steve Whitmire since the producer’s 1990 death.

Last year, Whitmire was however dismissed from the role, after an allegedly troubled two decades. Indeed, Jim Henson’s son Brian responded to the sacking with a critique of Whitmire’s ‘outrageous demands’ in July.

‘Steve would use ‘I am now Kermit and if you want the Muppets, you better make me happy because the Muppets are Kermit.’ And that is really not OK’ said Henson.

Matt Vogel, a long time voice artist for the Muppet Studios, was last month announced as Whitmire’s replacement and has now debuted his take on the character.
